Nurses from India and Finland visit the AAC Social Work Faculty

At the beginning of this month we had the pleasure of hosting here in the Social Work Faculty in AAC two faculty members from social work schools in India and Finland. One is Hanna Kirjavaine, social worker, senior lecturer in the field of social services at the University of Turku, Finland. The other is Prof. Joseph Helen, a social worker who advises social organizations in a wide variety of fields In Mumbai, India. They were accompanied by Hanna-Gibor-Elisha, a host family for students and a member of the board of directors of the International Association for International Fellowship of Israel. The purpose of the visit was to get to know the work of the college, to talk to students of social work, and to enrich the knowledge and information of students, faculty and students on social welfare and social work issues. The visitors met with third-year students in the regular track and second-year students from the ultra-Orthodox track. They toured the college, visited the Maor Maor Center for Sexual Assault Victims’ Children under the direction of Dr. Efrat Naveh and met with the “Maor Center” staff to learn about their professional work with children at risk. Prof. Menahem Monikendam, Dean of the School of Social Work, presented the social services in Israel, while the visitors presented the social services in India and Finland. The visitors were most impressed by the work at the college, the enthusiastic and inquisitive students and the meeting with the dean and the staff. It seems that the exchange of professional information, the search for common and different aspects of populations, and methods of dealing with the cultural aspect stimulates all sides. Both sides discussed maintaining further professional relationships in the future.
