International Nurse Week Seminar at AAC

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, a fascinating seminar was held at the College for Nursing in honor of the International Nurse Week.

Prof. Tova Hendel, Head of the Department of Nursing, opened the seminar and Prof. Shlomo Grossman, President of the College, congratulated the students.

The topic chosen this year by the director of nursing at the Ministry of Health was “ensuring continuity of treatment”

The Department of Nursing at the College chose to focus on maintaining the continuing of treatment among the Bedouin population.

Dr. Rasmia Abu-Rabia, a nurse, lecturer in the Department of Nursing at the College and coordinator of genetic information at the Clalit Health Services in the Southern District, described the development of the genetic diagnosis process among the Bedouin population to reduce birth defects and morbidity and efforts to improve the population’s cooperation with diagnostic tests.

Later, Prof. Efrat Shoham, head of the Criminology Department, lectured on the issue of tattoo language among prisoners, immigrants from the former Soviet Union. The subject absolutely fascinated the students.

Finally, Rona Tal, a fourth-year nursing student in advanced stages of pregnancy, presented her work at a clinical seminar on “Religious and Cultural Aspects of Fertility Treatments in Israeli Society.” “It is very important to give exposure to this issue in Israeli society and to .promote it,” said the student
