Prevention of Sexual Harassment Conference

The Sexual Harassment Prevention Commission conducted a sexual harassment prevention activity at Ashkelon Academic College.

As part of the activity, the movie “Cracks” was screened, the film raises a difficult issue of sexual offerings while taking advantage of lecturer-doctoral relationships.

At the end of the screening, we conducted a panel of experts in sexual harassment.

Attorney Dr. Eitan Nicotra, a lecturer in the Department of Criminology, presented the legal aspects and innovations in the law to prevent sexual harassment.

Dr. Galit Harel, from the Department of Social Work, presented the serious implications of sexual harassment on victims and the long recovery. Also, she read a letter of sexual harassment victim asking the company not to shut up or carry on with the day without addressing the problem.

Prof. Gila Chen, the Commissioner for Prevention of Sexual Harassment, summarized the activity by saying that the academy is a beacon not only for scientific breakthroughs and scientific innovation but also for moral behavior. The academy has embraced academic freedom, which allows for different and varied views, but discrimination contrasts with academic freedom. Sexual harassment impairs a person’s dignity, body, soul, spirit, and equal treatment. Ashkelon Academic College is fighting fiercely any phenomenon of sexual harassment and the commission will work in every way to prevent these phenomena.
